Body Fitness Challenge – #1 : Body Detoxing

Assalamualaikum and greetings my fellow readers !

As I have lots of leisure and relaxing time due to my semester break, I decided to create a mission specially for myself to gain perfect health. Health is wealth, right? Besides health, I also insist and demand to get back my fit body just like the old days. As you can see, my body is not the type where my weight can increase drastically if I’m not doing any exercise and watching my meals. I love to eat and I can eat everything especially junk food. Oh my. Fast food is the best. Ohh Burger King, why do you have to be so tasty and even cheaper from any burgers I ever tried??!! Yeah. They do have some promotions on certain food. I love it ! Take it easy, Alia. Focus, focus.

I already plan to jog during the weekends after my new semester started. I want to know how does it feel running on the real tracks in a stadium? Yeah, I’m studying in UiTM Shah Alam and they do have an official stadium. Cool huh?

Now, at home, I want to do something that I don’t really have the chance to do when I started to leave home for hostels. What is it?

DETOX WATER !

wpid-img_20150130_2.png

The one I did is the simplest to be done. I don’t have any mint leaves so I’m just using lemon and cucumber slices or wedged. Haha. It doesn’t matter how many slices but make sure they are compatible with how much quantity of water you’re gonna use later.

Slice ’em up ! You may use lemon juice instead of the lemon slices but I prefer the slice as the skins and the remaining flesh after you squeeze the juice out also contain the nourishment and vitamins. It is better if you just put all the slices altogether and it is even more easier than the squeezing.

The lemon looks like orange isn’t it? I swear to you that I’m using lemon for this. Hahaha. Maybe because of the lightning itself. It is optional if you want to use oranges or lime. It doesn’t have to be lemon. 🙂

Ohh also forgot about the cucumber. I’ve been talking about lemon and already neglected the cucumber. Haha. The cucumber also need to be sliced. I prepared five slices for both lemon and cucumber.

images (3)

Now its ready to be filled in the water bottle. Put all of them altogether into the bottle.

images (1)

Yeah, we already done. Pour the water until its full. Not that anybody asked, I’m using a 500ml bottle water.

images (2)

Ready to be refrigerated overnight. For the best refreshment, it is better to be served cold. Today, I’m gonna try it.

TASTE

More to sour taste of course because of the lemons and I can taste the cucumber extracts and odour. The taste is quite pale and more focusing on the sharpness of the sour taste. It is refreshing and I believe that if I have the mint leaves, it will be better but still I love the natural taste.

COLOUR

The water turns a little bit chalky as the lemons and cucumber essence are extracted out into the water. All I can say, it is naturally awesome.

BENEFITS

Using ingredients from directly from mother nature is the best way to provide numbers of benefits to our body to gain healthiness and lemons plus cucumber is one of them.

1) Breath refreshment

My breath do smells like lemon right now ! Hahaha. Why is that? It is because lemons has the ability to disinfect our mouth thus making it smells nicer. Isn’t it great?  Now you don’t have to fight for nice smelling breath and brushes your teeth more often. Just take a sip of detox water and you can strikes down the road confidently.

2) Balancing body pH level

Have you ever heard about homeostasis? There you go. The science talk again. Haha. Its define as the ability of our bodies to maintaining the internal and external environment of the bodies. It is very important to stabilizing the body system and lemon juice can helps to make the hoemostasis job to be more easier. By drinking fresh lemon juice is actually good for maintaining a balanced pH level in the body. Most people assume that lemons are highly acidic, when in fact they have incredible alkalizing properties.

3) Improves digestive function

Who doesn’t want our belly to be relieved before and after you taking your meals? Lemon juice contains acid that is very similar to the natural juices produced by the stomach. Ingesting fresh lemon juice will therefore help in keeping the digestive system on tract, which allows food to be digested properly and more quickly. This is highly beneficial to those who often suffer from indigestion, bloating, and heartburn, all of which can be painful and inconvenient.

4) Energy booster

Detox already mean cleanse. Keeping your body clean leads to more energies production because we already remove all the wastes which is not useful for our body system and that is why I feel more energetic now!

5) Promotes skin repair

When it comes to skin cares, I’m getting excited. Well, I’m a girl, right? Hehe. One of the little known benefits of lemon juice is its anti-aging properties. The acid from the lemon juice contain concentrated levels of antioxidants, which help flush out toxins and free radicals from the body. The process of detoxing allows proper cell regeneration, which then manifests by way of glowing and younger looking skin. Vitamin C also promotes the production of collagen, which is a type of protein that is responsible for the skin’s elasticity.

6) Cleanses the urinary tract

OMG. This is happening right now. After drinking the detox water I prepared, I had went to the toilets like several times until my urine colour turns clear. This is the detoxing process. It really works ! Here some explanation. Since lemon juice is a natural diuretic (beverages/substances that make you urinate often and in large volumes), making a daily habit of drinking it ensures that you have a cleaner (and more functional) urinary tract. In the long run, this would also have cumulative detoxing effects since the body disposes waste materials through urine. Flushing out liquid waste at a much faster rate reduces the risk of accumulating bacteria in the body, thus preventing a number of diseases such as urinary tract infection and many others. Thanks for cleaning my bladder !

7) Helping in weight loss

AHAHH! This is what I’m looking for. Losing some weight is clearly my mission right now. How detox water helps in losing weight? For people who are desperately trying to lose weight but are often overcome by nagging cravings and urges to binge, the daily lemon juice-water routine is a great trick to use. Not many people are aware that lemon juice works well in terms of curbing a person’s appetite, thereby allowing him/her to effectively lose weight. In fact, most at-home detox diets involve the use of freshly squeezed lemon juice, which is not only good for getting rid of toxins but also for reducing appetite for solid foods. The lemon juice allows you to feel full and satisfied for longer periods, which eliminates snacking in-between meals.

SIDE EFFECTS

I don’t think there would be any side effects from natural ingredients unless you have any allergies towards any of the ingredients used.

That is all I can describe about the remarkable and awesome benefits of detox water. Actually, it has lots of advantages and it is a good source to get a healthy body. It is also very simple and easy to prepare so you don’t have to go through the difficulties and hassles in order for having the wealthy of health.

Ohh before I end this, after I drink the detox water, I recycled the lemon and cucumber slices to prepare the new detox water. My aim is to have that drink everyday especially before taking my breakfast. I will post the result after a few weeks.

There are lots of other ingredients for making detox water as long as you’re using natural remedies such as fruits and vegetables.

My burp smells like lemon ! HAHAHAHA. Thanks for reading. ❤

Egg and Cheese Sandwich

Assalamualaikum readers!

Mind to share any easy recipes? I’m not an expert in cooking but when it comes to that hungry sensation; growl growl growl, the epinephrines will directly bind to my B-adrenergic receptors causing my heart rate to increase in just a minute. Haha. Sorry for the sciences talks.

Once again, I would share a recipe which is pretty simple to make and not time-wasted. Lets get started! 🙂

INGREDIENTS

image

  • 2 slices of bread
  • Eggs
  • Salt
  • Paprika
  • Pepper
  • Oregano
  • Mozzarella cheese

images (1)

1) As I just want to prepare this for myself, I only used one egg and 2 slices of bread.

Beat the egg with salt, paprika and oregano. It really doesn’t matter what type of spices do you used to give the flavours OR you can leave the taste of egg itself. Excuse the colour of the egg. It turns brown when I added the paprika and oregano. :p

Meanwhile, just sprinkles some mozarella cheese onto one of the bread.

images

2) Put another one bread on top of the bread with the cheese and immersed them altogether into the egg. Make sure the egg is all spreaded to the bread surfaces.

Fried them until it turns golden.

3) Your egg-cheese bread is ready to go. Yummy! You can even see the cheese being sandwiched in between of both breads.

This recipe only takes 5 minutes to be done and the taste was like 1 hour-prepared meal. Isn’t that amazing?

Hope you can try it. Thanks for reading 🙂

DIY : Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Banana Bites with Groundnuts Sprinkles

Assalamualaikum and happy weekend.

Well, tomorrow I will be going to my mom’s hometown which is in Perlis. Yeah, its like 3-4 hours of journey and it doesn’t smothering me because we celebrate The Eid every year there so no bother. I already get used to it since I was little. Its kind of a deal between my parents after they get married ; staying permanently in Perak and celebrating Hari Raya in Perlis in return. My point is because I’ll be going tomorrow so I have to continue my pending post right now.

Yesterday I’ve been googling about what kind of recipes that used banana as the main ingredient (because it is the only fruit available in this house right now). I like banana. Its high contain of fibre really helps in evacuating my bowel movement. Yuckk. I’m sorry. I’m not supposed to write that in the middle of food talking.

So I already know that there are several gigantic packets of dark chocolate in the kitchen and you must be wondering why. My dad usually making several pieces of chocolate for selling purpose, and sometimes for gifts. The best part is my siblings and I love chocolate sooo much like if we’re trapped inside a chocolate hell, we will never find the way out. Over reacting?

In that case, to stop my rambling I put this picture.

Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Banana Bites with Groundnuts Sprinkles

This is my first attempt and I considered as 3/4 success. For me, it is an achievement and I’m proud for it. I guess I don’t have to show the steps because it is very easy and from the picture, you already can tell what do you have to do, right?

The taste? Delicious. Although the banana is quite stone-like to bite but still the taste was good after the melted chocolate became crunchy when it touches the cold freezing banana.

Nuts and chocolate are the most perfect combination. I can gobble them wherever I go if I buy one. It doesn’t matter what kind of nuts ; almonds, walnut, hazelnuts, pistachio, cashew, ground nuts and etc. I just love them all. With that, you may use all sorts of nuts for the sprinkles. On the other hand, you also can sprinkled the banana with chocolate or rainbow rice. Easy as ABC ❤

If you wanna try this recipe, you better sliced the banana into round little pieces before you keep them frozen. It is more easier to snack them instead of freeze them in one piece. (You can get your tooth come off if you bite them just like that!)

Toodles.

You are what you EAT

Assalamualaikum.

Lets talk about food can we? I love to eat and I love to try new food. Mostly, of course I choose Malay food and second I prefer the Western’s. Its just not like I eat them very often but it would be my second choice if I eat at the restaurant. Chicken chop, fish and chips, spaghetti and some other food are really don’t let me to hold the hunger. Same with Malay food. I am so in love with sambal belacan. I have to admit that I’m not a fan of spicy food but 3 years in Kuala Pilah really keep my motor running on those kind of food.

The point I want to highlight here is how we want to choose the type of food for our body. Our body is so special and complex. If you treat them like a king and give them healthy food, they will support you by giving more energy and don’t let the toxins to conquer your body and vice versa.

Alhamdulillah my weight is being quite stable for about 4 years ago with normal BMI range. I am totally grateful with my weight and height as it is average for an Asian woman. I’ve managed to keep maintaining my body although I eat a lot — like A LOT. I’m 100% sure that it is all about genetics. I can tell that I got more genetics material from my dad compared to my mom ; its the only explanation for my height. That is why even though I eat a lot but my body still in shaped like no changes at all (only me know what has changed. LOL)

I want to share my eating habits. Again, it is HABITS. I don’t learn from anybody but its just come within me naturally. No influences.

1) Controlling food portion

Food portion is one of the most important thing if you want to stay healthy and of course, losing weight. This is what I do everytime I want to eat. I am a truly Malaysian and that is why I am overly-attached with rice. That’s right. No Atkins Diet for me. Usually I eat rice 2 times a day — lunch and dinner. Yeah, rice is starchy with high level of calories but it is one of the best energy source for your body. That is the best when it comes to Mother Nature.

How I control it? Just make sure that your rice is in a small portion like the size of your fist and not more than that.

The picture below may be the best reference.

2) Soup lover ! ❤

Image

I am the biggest fan of soup. Any kind of soup, just tell me and I’m sure I’ll love it so much. Like I said before, it comes naturally. I just love to eat with the soupy feeling together with my rice especially when it comes to vegetable soup. My mom know me so well thus she make soup like every week and sometimes almost everyday. With the cauliflower, celery, broccoli, carrots, cabbages, mushrooms and potatoes, it is complete with the flavour and I got the healthy feeling when I take a sip. Believe me, it is very healthy and of course delicious.

3) Say NO to internal organs

If you asked me what kind of food I don’t like, my answer would be the internal organs. I don’t like the taste and also I know its bad for our health if we eat them very often. For example, the liver. As we know the liver functioned as the place where all the toxins accumulate thus would give bad impact to our health especially our brain. If you love to eat internal organs, make sure you don’t eat them frequently.

4) I won’t pick the pickles :p

For snacks, I’m totally not choosing pickles. It is not about me who over-protective about what I eat but its just because I don’t like them especially the taste. The souring taste really don’t catch my tongue. Once again, its bad for the kidneys and more important to the brain — such a bad effect for students in memorizing.

5) Fruits are the best 😀

Image

I guaranteed most people love fruits so much just like me. The taste of the food is quite important to me and fruits are the best. I can give the rates for what type of fruit I like and give 5 stars to watermelon ! I just love the juicy, fresh and sweet interior flesh (mouth-watering alert). Not forget to other fruits. Fruits contain a lot of vitamins and it would completing your body needs.

6) Chew, chew and chew

When I eat, I take a little time to chew my food — that is the reason why I am the last one who finished eating. First, its all about how I enjoyed the food. Second, I really don’t want to get indigestion which is the uncomfortable feeling inside my tummy that give me fully distraction for my sleep. It is also one of the sunnah from our beloved prophet, Rasulullah SAW to chew 44 times before you swallowed the food. It helps your body to digest and increase the efficiency of absorption in the small intestine (well I’m the science student). So, take your time and chew slowly.

7) Protein sources

When you eat, you have to make the right choice. Protein is one of the most important element that your body needed. For me, the greatest choice is fish. I choose fish instead of chicken and meat. Why? because fish coming fresh from the sea and directly to the market. On the other hand, for chicken, usually they will be breed and injected with some vitamins or chemicals or whatever to give the fast-grow effect. This is so not good for the chicken and of course, we as the consumer. Same goes to the meat.

8) Water, I choose you

At home, I prefer to drink water instead of other sweet drinks such as cordial, carbonate and caffeine. I just love the fresh and clean feeling of my throat and mouth after drinking water. Plus, the other drinks just increases your sugar level and you know its bad, right? Now, I am in the process to achieve my goal ; Drinks 8 glasses of water everyday. It sounds easy but its quite tough for me except if I have a fridge inside my bedroom. Hehe :p

9) Avoid processed food as much as you can

Well I want to make a confession here. I really can’t resist when it comes to nuggets, french fries, patties and other processed food. I know they are bad for my body but I try to go with an alternative to reduce the unhealthy-ness. How? Maybe you can just put them in the oven and just let them cooked instead of frying them in the pan full with cooking oil which you know high in cholesterol. Same goes to fast food. Maybe you can just put a limit on that. Once or twice in a month can you?

Those are the things I would like to share and hopefully my points can make a change in your daily life 🙂

Toodles.
